A bicyclist was fatally struck by a double-decker bus in the Gold Coast neighborhood Wednesday evening.

The cyclist was identified Wednesday evening at Blaine Klingenberg, 29, of the 3600 block of West Shakespeare, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Klingenberg was hit by the bus about 5:30 p.m. in the 0-100 block of East Oak Street, according to police and fire officials.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Fire Media Affairs.

Westbound Oak Street and southbound inner Lake Shore Drive were temporarily closed at Michigan Avenue as authorities investigated, according to police.
