Two people, including a baby, were injured and several other people were rescued from an extra-alarm fire that burned two homes in the South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood Wednesday.

Fire crews were called to the 4400 block of South Honore about 3:30 p.m., according to dispatch reports.

A 1-year-old child and another person were taken from one of the homes to an area hospital, according to Fire Media Affairs. A condition was not yet known.

Several other people had to be rescued, fire officials said. Smoke was still coming from the homes Wednesday afternoon and blackened siding was peeling from both buildings.

The fire is under control as of 4:10 p.m., fire officials said.
