A man who was found dead last week in a retention pond in northwest suburban Crystal Lake has been identified.

Officers responded about 11:30 a.m. on June 19 to a report of a body in the pond in the 4400 block of Northwest Highway and found the man, according to Crystal Lake police.

He has been identified as 29-year-old Eulalio Elizarraz Soto of Carpentersville, according to the McHenry County coroner’s office. The Illinois State Police Crime Lab assisted with the identification.

Preliminary autopsy results found he drowned, according to the coroner’s office said. Toxicology testing is pending.

Police said they have no reason to believe there is a threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing.
