A body was found Wednesday afternoon in Douglas Park on the Near West Side.

The body of 33-year-old Jose Rafael Vasquez Santos was recovered from the lagoon in Douglas Park in the 1200 block of Sarrar Drive at 1:52 p.m., according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. 

Santos, of the 2900 block of South Bonaparte Street, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:22 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. An autopsy did not rule on his cause and manner of death pending further investigation.

Area Central detectives are conducting a death investigation.
