Authorities are investigating a series of recent burglaries in which copper pipes have been stolen from vacant homes in north suburban Lake County.
The Lake County sheriff’s office has investigated five such burglaries since Dec. 1 in the northeast portion of the county, the sheriff’s office said in a statement. In each break-in, burglars have forced entry to front or rear doors of a vacant home and stolen copper plumbing from within.
Residents who leave town for a vacation are encouraged to ask neighbors to keep an eye on their homes while they’re gone, the sheriff’s office said. Anyone who sees anything suspicious is asked to call 911.
