Ramps connecting Barrington Road to the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway are scheduled to close for construction Monday and extend through May in northwest suburban Hoffman Estates.

Weather permitting, the ramp from southbound Barrington Road to eastbound I-90 will close at 5 a.m. Monday, according to a statement from the Illinois Tollway. Traffic will be directed via detour signage to travel south on Barrington, east on Higgins Road, east on Golf Road and north on Roselle Road to access eastbound I-90.

Up to 3,430 vehicles use that ramp daily, the statement said. During the closure, constructions crews will be doing pavement removal, drainage system installation and completion of roadway paving on southbound Barrington Road adjacent to the entrance ramp.

Already in place is the long-term closure of the ramp carrying westbound I-90 traffic to southbound Barrington Road. A temporary traffic signal was installed north of I-90 to direct traffic at the interchange.

A 35 mph work zone speed limit is in effect in the construction zone, the statement said.

The closures are part of the $68 million Barrington Road Interchange Project, which is scheduled for completion in 2016. According to the tollway, the average daily traffic on Barrington Road is approximately 30,000 vehicles north of I-90 and 45,000 south of the tollway.
