A 74-year-old Orland Park man is facing multiple traffic citations, accused of running into and killing a 17-year-old boy last June in the southwest suburb.

Ibrahim N. Ziad was driving his 2009 Mercedes-Benz sedan in the 100 block of Silo Ridge Road North shortly after 4:30 p.m. June 17 when he veered off the road and hit David Dolitsky, who was mowing a lawn, and also struck a brick mailbox, according to police.

Dolitsky, who lived in the same block as the crash, died about two hours later at Franciscan St. James Health in Olympia Fields.

Ziad, now free on a signature bond, was cited Dec. 1 with driving on the wrong side of the roadway, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to exercise due care to avoid striking a pedestrian, after what the police called “an extensive and thorough review of the evidence and facts.”
