A First Midwest Bank branch was robbed at gunpoint Friday morning in south suburban Matteson.

At 11:05 a.m., the masked robber, who was armed with a handgun, walked into the First Midwest Bank branch at 4600 West Lincoln Highway in Matteson, the FBI said. He then jumped the counter and stole money before running away.

A suspect was later taken into custody, and a gun was recovered, the FBI said.
