A gas main break has caused evacuations Monday morning in west suburban Brookfield.

A large gas main was struck in the 4100 block of Deyo Avenue, according to a statement posted to the village website.

Some evacuations have been required, according to the statement. Residents are warned to avoid the area.

Nicor estimates the break may take up to six hours to repair, according to the statement.
