Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash during the evening rush Tuesday near west suburban Darien.

The crash happened at 6:11 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-55 just north of Lemont Road, according to Illinois State Police.

A 2016 GMC struck a semi truck, bounced off and struck another semi, causing it to roll on its side, police said.

The 25-year-old driver of the GMC and the 28-year-old driver of one of the semis were taken to hospitals, according to police. The driver of the GMC is expected to be cited or charged.

All lanes reopened just after 11 p.m.
