A 40-year-old man was charged with drunk driving after a hit-and-run crash early Monday in west suburban Riverside.

Around 2:25 a.m. Ricky L. Tyler struck a retaining wall inside the Amstar parking lot at 3346 S. Harlem Ave., according to Riverside police.

When officers arrived to the scene a witness said the vehicle had went north on the 3300 block of Harlem, police said. Officers spotted a heavily damaged vehicle at a traffic light a block north with tree branches, twigs and landscape stone from the retaining wall stuck in the bumper, police said.

During the traffic stop Tyler swerved into an oncoming lane of traffic, and he failed a sobriety test, police allege.

Tyler, who has three previous DUI convictions, was charged with aggravated DUI, driving on a revoked license, hit-and-run, and several other traffic violations.
