A man was charged Wednesday with shooting two people in west suburban Aurora.
Raheim D. Davis, of Aurora, was charged with single counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated battery, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated discharge of a firearm, according to a statement from Aurora police.
About 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, police in the western suburb received several calls of shots fired and someone running near the intersection of Fox Hill Road and Fieldside Lane, police said.
Officers soon after pulled over a vehicle with four men in it near the intersection of Fox Hill Road and Long Grove Drive, police said. About the same time, a woman dropped off two people who were shot at an Aurora hospital.
Investigators determined that the six men — the four in the car and the two who were shot — got into a “verbal confrontation” with Davis and several of his friends in the 900 block of Fieldside Lane, police said. Davis shot the two men — whose ages were not disclosed — a short time later. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Police took Davis into custody after he tried to flee through several yards, police said. He had a handgun on him when he was arrested.
Authorities did not say when Davis was scheduled to appear in court next.
