Man charged with stabbing in Aurora bar fight

A man has been charged with stabbing another man during a bar fight that also left another man shot to death earlier this year in west suburban Aurora.

Davonte Bouchee, 22, of the 600 block of Talma Street in Aurora, faces two counts of aggravated battery, according to a statement from Aurora police.

About 1:40 a.m. Jan. 23, officers responding to the La Quinta De Los Reyes bar at 36 E. New York St. found 36-year-old Marcus Holland suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and lying in the parking lot among at least 100 people who were shouting and fighting, police said.

The officers also discovered a 22-year-old man from Batavia was still inside the bar with a stab wound, police said.

As people were leaving a large party inside the bar, two groups began arguing and fighting and someone opened fire, police said. The shooter ran away immediately afterwards and Holland, who lived in the 1000 block of Foran Lane in Aurora, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The stabbing was captured on video by someone who began recording when the fight broke out, police said. Police identified Bouchee as the suspect after reviewing that and several other clips of the disturbance.

Police said Bouchee confronted the Batavia man as he was trying to go back into the bar, asked him a gang-related question, and then stabbed him in the back. The victim suffered a non-life-threatening injury and was treated and released from an Aurora hospital.

Police said at the time that most of the people at the scene were uncooperative and hostile toward investigators. Police believe the shooting and stabbing were both street gang-related.

Bouchee was arrested about 11 p.m. April 3 when Special Operations Group investigators curbed a car near Douglas Road and Route 30 in unincorporated Kendall County, police said. He ran from the car, but officers pursued and he was eventually tackled. Two officers were treated for minor injuries they suffered during the arrest.

Bouchee has been ordered held at the Kane County Adult Justice Center on a $50,000 bond.
