No bond for man charged with Logan Square robberies

Bond was denied Thursday for a man who has been charged with a recent string of armed robberies in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

Angelo Stanton, 27, faces one count of armed robbery, two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, one count of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, and two counts of attempted robbery, all felonies, according to Chicago Police.

The robberies happened:

• at 3:56 p.m. Aug. 26 in the 2200 block of North Western;
• at 5 p.m. Sept. 13 in the 1900 block of North California;
• at 8:35 p.m. Sept. 20 in the 2500 block of West North;
• and at 9:30 p.m. Sept. 22 in the 3000 block of West Fullerton.

Stanton was caught about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of North Leavitt, police said. He was seen parking his vehicle several blocks away from a business, wearing similar clothing to what was worn by the suspect in the previous robberies.

When officers approached Stanton, he tried to run away while trying to keep a heavy object from falling out of his pants, police said. He was arrested, and the heavy object turned out to be a handgun.

Stanton, of the 3700 block of West McLean, was ordered held without bond at a Thursday hearing, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office. His next court date is Oct. 18.
