A man was critically wounded in a Brainerd neighborhood shooting late Tuesday on the South Side.

The 27-year-old was in a vehicle at 11:07 p.m. stopped at an intersection in the 8900 block of South Loomis when a gray or cream-colored vehicle pulled alongside and someone inside opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

The man was shot in the back and the head and was taken in critical condition to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.
