A man was shot while he was walking in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side Tuesday night.

The 22-year-old was in the 5000 block of West Madison about 8:12 p.m. when someone walked up and shot him in the chest and leg, police said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said.
