A 48-year-old man was shot and badly wounded early Friday while driving on the Northwest Side.

He was southbound in the 3600 block of North Harlem Avenue around 4:20 a.m. when someone pulled alongside in another vehicle and shot him in the forehead, according to the police, who said he was taken in critical condition to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.

Chicago Fire Department crews responded to the fire around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of West 16th Street. No injuries were reported. The fire was put out about 9:30 p.m.
