A man is in critical condition after he was shot in the South Side Englewood neighborhood Friday evening.

The 26-year-old was standing on the sidewalk with another male at 5:42 p.m. in the 5900 block of South Union, according to Chicago Police. The male heard shots and dropped to the ground. When he got up, he saw the 26-year-old was shot.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head, police said.

The man was found unresponsive in an alley in the 10700 block of South Lowe Avenue, police said.
The man suffered head trauma and was pronounced dead at University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.
