A 27-year-old man drove himself to a hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to his head Saturday on the Northwest Side, according to the police.

The man arrived at Community First Medical Center about 6:30 p.m. and told officers he’d been driving in the 4000 block of West Belmont Avenue when someone in a car that pulled alongside opened fire, though investigators were unable to find evidence of a crime scene and were skeptical of his story, police said.
