A man who died of a gunshot wound to the head Thursday night in the Northwest Side Portage Park neighborhood committed suicide.

Shortly before 10 p.m., the 22-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the head near his home in the 5800 block of West Giddings Street, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died at 5:54 a.m. Saturday.
