A man was shot during a robbery Friday night in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

About 7 p.m., the 23-year-old was driving in the 5000 block of West Monroe when he stopped and a male approached his vehicle on foot, Chicago Police said. The male announced a robbery and fired shots at the driver, who was hit in the abdomen, before he ran off.

The 23-year-old was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
