Man shot in West Englewood

An 18-year-old man was shot in West Englewood Friday evening on the South Side, marking the first shooting victim of the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

The man was shot in the neck at 5:25 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Bishop, according to Chicago Police.

He later showed up at St. Bernard Hospital and was transferred to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.

The circumstances of the shooting were not immediately known.
