Man shot in West Woodlawn

A man was shot in the West Woodlawn neighborhood Friday evening on the South Side.

The 35-year-old was standing outside a home about 5:50 p.m. in the 6100 block of South Evans Avenue when a person walked up to him and began shooting, according to Chicago Police. The shooter ran away.

The man was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the leg and his condition was stabilized, police said.
