A 41-year-old man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition early Friday after being shot in the face while driving on Lake Shore Drive downtown, police said.

Around 1:30 a.m., officers found the wounded man in a van in the northbound lanes near Grand Avenue, according to police.
