Man shot, seriously wounded in East Garfield Park

A man has been charged with a shooting that left a man seriously wounded early Wednesday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

Travas Norwood, 26, was charged with one count each of aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm and attempted first-degree murder, according to Chicago Police.

At 12:53 a.m., the 23-year-old victim was in the 500 block of North Kedzie when a vehicle approached and the man got into an argument with a passenger, who then pulled a handgun and fired shots, police said.

The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body, and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, police said.

Police said a weapon was recovered.

The next court appearance for Norwood, who lives in the 6200 block of South Indiana, was not immediately available.
