A 38-year-old man who was fatally shot in the South Side Washington Heights neighborhood early Saturday has been identified.

Darnell Hardeman was outside in the 900 block of West 96th Street about 3:15 a.m. when two other people walked up and shot him several times, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Hardeman, of the 9600 block of South Halsted, was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:18 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy found he died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.
