A man was shot and seriously wounded while driving Wednesday morning in the University Village neighborhood on the Near West Side.

He was driving west at 2:59 a.m. in the 1300 block of West 13th Street when someone fired shots from the sidewalk, according to Chicago Police.

The man suffered gunshot wounds to the back and neck and was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.
