A man was shot early Monday while driving in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side.

At 1:33 a.m., the 35-year-old was driving an SUV southbound in the 5100 block of South Calumet when he heard gunfire and realized he’d been shot in the left thigh, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said, adding that the man is a documented gang member.
