A man was shot early Sunday while walking in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 32-year-old was walking on the sidewalk at 2:10 a.m. in the 200 block of North Kedzie when a male walked up and shot him in the right side, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

The suspect’s son witnessed the shooting of at least five relatives, according to Joliet police reports obtained through a public records request. The reports also indicate the boy’s mother was more deeply involved in the case than first thought.
