A 35-year-old man who took himself to Trinity Hospital told police he was shot in the Calumet Heights neighborhood Sunday afternoon on the South Side.

The man said he was smoking a cigarette on a sidewalk in the 9300 block of South Stony Island about 4 p.m. when he heard gunfire and realized he’d been hit in the right leg, according to Chicago Police. He was listed in good condition.

Investigators were not able to locate a crime scene. The man has documented gang ties, police said.
