A man armed with a gun and wearing a hockey goaltender’s mask robbed a bank Wednesday afternoon in Rockford.

The takeover robbery happened at the PNC Bank branch at 225 N. Court St. in Rockford at 9:51 a.m., according to the FBI.

The suspect, armed with a handgun, assaulted and grabbed an employee, brought her to the teller counter, took money, and walked out of the bank, according to FBI spokesman Garrett Croon.

He was described as a 6-foot to 6-foot-6 black male with a large build, wearing a hockey mask, black hooded jacket and dark pants, according to the FBI.
