A 92-year-old man was fatally struck by a Metra train last week on the Milwaukee District/West Line in northwest suburban Bartlett.
Inbound train No. 2212 struck the man about 6:40 a.m. May 2 at the Bartlett station in the 200 block of East Railroad Avenue, according to Metra spokesman Tom Miller. The train was scheduled to depart Roselle at 6:54 a.m. and didn’t have any passengers aboard.
Michael Thomas Warwik, 92, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:02 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived less than a block from the train station in Bartlett.
An autopsy showed he died from multiple injuries, and initially ruled his death a suicide, but the medical examiner’s office later changed the manner of death to undetermined, according to a spokesperson.
