$100K bail for woman charged with DUI in fatal Joliet crash

A woman was ordered held on $100,000 bail Monday after she was charged with crashing her vehicle, while intoxicated, into a motorcycle early Sunday in southwest suburban Joliet, leaving a 36-year-old man dead.

The motorcyclist, Jaime Mendez Jr., was going north on Route 59 about 12:40 a.m. when 58-year-old Kathy M. Molitor drove into him near the intersection of Country Glen Court, according to Joliet police and the Will County coroner’s office.

Mendez, a Plainfield resident, was taken to Saint Joseph Medical Center, where he died, authorities said.

Molitor, of Joliet, was arrested and charged with a felony count of aggravated DUI causing death, along with a misdemeanor DUI, according to police and the Will County sheriff’s office. She was also cited for making an improper left turn.

Molitor was ordered held on $100,000 bail Monday, according to the Will County State’s Attorney’s office.
