A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot in the South Chicago neighborhood Thursday night.

Demarius Roseman was in the 8000 block of South Escanaba about 10:40 p.m. when someone in a nearby vacant lot shot him, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Roseman, of the 6800 block of South Sangamon, was taken to South Shore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead 25 minutes later, authorities said.
