A pedestrian who was fatally struck by a freight train Saturday afternoon in north suburban Antioch has been identified.

Shortly before 4 p.m., officers responded to the North Avenue crossing for a report that a person was struck by a Canadian National Railroad train, Antioch police said.

Aidan Adelizzi, 18, of Antioch was walking on the tracks about 200 yards south of the crossing when he was struck and killed, according to the Lake County coroner’s office and police.

Both departments are investigating.
