A man was shot Monday afternoon in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

The 25-year-old man was in an alley in the 500 block of Lavergne at 1:06 p.m. when someone got out of an SUV and fired shots, striking him in the hand and groin, according to Chicago Police.

He then ran to the front yard and was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was listed in fair condition, police said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.
