A man was shot Monday morning in the Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The 23-year-old man was walking in the 1800 block of South Ridgeway about 11:20 a.m. when a male approached and engaged him in conversation before firing shots, according to Chicago Police.

He was shot in both legs and taken to Mount Sinai, where his condition stabilized.
