A 15-year-old boy was killed and 12 other people were wounded in shootings Tuesday across Chicago.

Fabian Lavinder died after being shot in the chest around 10:15 p.m. as he sat in the front seat of a vehicle in the 2900 block of East 89th Street. Someone drove up and shot him, according to the Chicago Police Department and the Cook County medical examiner’s office, which said the South Side teenager was pronounced dead shortly after at Advocate Trinity Hospital.

The most recent nonfatal shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. in Uptown. A 28-year-old man was walking in the 4700 block of North Racine when he heard gunshots and felt pain, police said. He was shot in the eye and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition stabilized.

About 7:10 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot by someone who drove past as he was standing on the sidewalk in the 3400 block of West Iowa in Humboldt Park, police said. He suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was being treated at Mount Sinai Hospital.

About two hours earlier, two men, both 26, were walking in the 800 block of North Harding in Humboldt Park just after 5 p.m. when someone shot at them, police said. One suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and a graze wound to the calf, and the other man a gunshot wound to the foot. They were both taken to Norwegian American Hospital.

Earlier Tuesday, a 28-year-old man was shot by two men who came up to him as he stood on a corner at 12:57 p.m. in the 7900 block of South Laflin in in Auburn Gresham, according to the police, who said he suffered a gunshot wound to the torso.

About 12 hours earlier, about 1:45 a.m., a 30-year-old man was shot in the shoulder by a man who walked up to him as he stood outside in the 10200 block of South LaSalle Street, according to the police, who said away. The man was being treated at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
