A man has been charged with shooting at two people who were trying to shoot at him early Tuesday in west suburban Aurora.

Terrance J. Henson, 23, was charged with one felony count of reckless discharge of a firearm for the shootout that happened about 12:40 a.m. outside of his apartment complex in the 1900 block of Lilac Lane, according to Aurora police. No one was injured.

Henson was outside talking on his phone when two men, one of whom was armed, got out of a white vehicle and walked up to him, police said. One of the men yelled a threat, and Henson ran.

He heard a gunshot as he was running, but made it back to his apartment, grabbed his own gun and returned outside, police said. He saw one of the men who was chasing him, fired several shots that apparently missed, and ran back inside.

When police arrived a short time later to calls of shots fired in the area, Henson surrendered to the officers, police said. No one was injured in the shooting, but a parked vehicle sustained about $100 in damage from gunfire.

The two other men were described as Hispanic, police said. The one with a gun was 30-35 years old, standing 5-feet-9, and wearing a gray or white hoodie. The other man wore a white tank top.

A preliminary investigation indicates that Henson was targeted in the attack, but investigators don’t believe that the motive is gang-related, police said.

Henson was ordered held on a $5,000 bond Wednesday, police said.
