A body was found Thursday morning after a fire in a clothing donation box in the Uptown neighborhood on the North Side.

About 7:15 a.m., firefighters extinguished the blaze in the box in the 1500 block of West Wilson and discovered the body in the remains, police said.

The person remains unidentified as of Monday morning, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy Friday did not rule on the person’s cause and manner of death pending further investigation.

Area North detectives are conducting a death investigation.
