Police are investigating after a bullet was found in the bathroom of an elementary school in west suburban Elmhurst on Thursday morning.
A small-caliber bullet was found in a bathroom at Lincoln Elementary School at 565 Fairfield Ave., according to Elmhurst police.
The school was out on soft lockdown until 10:32 a.m. while police conducted a search, according to a statement from police. During the lockdown, instruction continued as usual in classrooms, but movement through the building was restricted.
The bullet was originally found on the outdoor playground, police said. Evidence technicians are using metal detectors to ensure all evidence has been found.
Police said, “there is no danger to anyone at Lincoln Elementary School, and the educational day continues to proceed.
“As a precaution, and to reassure parents and students, Elmhurst Police will remain at the school through dismissal this afternoon.”
