A 56-year-old man was killed in a shooting early Tuesday in the East Chatham neighborhood on the South Side.

At 1:26 a.m., a male got out of a red Chevrolet Camaro in the 8400 block of South Maryland and opened fire, striking Marcelle P. Rey in his chest, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Rey, who lived in the Northwest Side Logan Square neighborhood, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 2:24 a.m., authorities said.
