Man shot to death in Gary

A 25-year-old man was shot to death Tuesday evening in northwest Indiana.

Officers responding at 5:13 p.m. to a call of a person shot in the 300 block of Mount Street in Gary found Clarence Thornton lying in the street with a gunshot wound, according to Gary police and the Lake County coroner’s office.

Thornton, who lived in the 5300 block of West 4th Place in Gary, was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:15 p.m., the coroner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.
