Police search for driver in Marquette Park hit-and-run

Police are searching for the driver of a car that struck a man as he crossed the street earlier this month in the Marquette Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

At 6:03 p.m. March 12, the 55-year-old man was crossing the street southbound in the 3000 block of West 71st Street when he was struck by the car, according to Chicago Police. The vehicle sped away westbound on 71st after the crash.

The man, who was not in a crosswalk at the time, suffered head injuries and was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

The car is described as a silver or gray car, possibly a Pontiac, police said.
