Police are warning South Side residents of five recent armed robberies in the Englewood neighborhood.

A male suspect approaches a victim, pulls out a handgun and announces a robbery, before running away with the victim’s belongings, according to the community alert from Area South detectives.

The robberies happened at:

  • 3:50 p.m. Oct. 6 in the 7300 block of South Lowe;
  • 7:45 a.m. Oct. 14 in the 6900 block of South Union;
  • 9:50 p.m. Oct. 16 in the 7000 block of South Parnell;
  • 7:26 a.m. Oct. 20 in the 7100 block of South Normal; and
  • 8 a.m. Oct. 21 in the 7000 block of South Eggleston.

The suspect is described as a black male 16-20, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-10, and 140-160 pounds, police said.
