Police are warning residents of two robberies this month in the South Shore neighborhood.

The victims were walking when a man approached them and forcefully took their cellphones, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The robberies happened about 7:35 p.m. on Sept. 1 in the 1900 block of East 79th Street and about 7:20 p.m. on Sept. 13 in the 7900 block of South Jeffery Boulevard.

The suspect is described as a black man with a medium complexion and black hair worn in dreadlocks. He is thought to be between 20 and 30 years old, about 6-foot-5 and 240 to 260 pounds, police said.
