Police are warning residents about two recent violent robberies in the Loop.

In both incidents, suspects approached someone who was parked or stopped in traffic, opened the vehicle’s door, punched the person and then stole their cell phones from the vehicle compartment, according to a community alert from Chicago Police. The robbers distracted the victims with a ruse of handing out fundraising fliers.

One robbery happened at 4:05 p.m. June 23 in the 200 block of North Michigan, while the other happened at 4:30 p.m. June 22 in the 0-100 block of East Lower Wacker, police said.

The suspects are described as black males between 16 and 24 years old, standing between 5-feet-6 and 6-foot, police said.

Anyone with information should call Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8384.
