Man fatally struck by Red Line train last week identified

A Michigan man who was fatally struck by a Red Line train on the South Side last week has been identified.

The 29-year-old man was struck by the northbound train near 71st Street shortly before 4 a.m. Sept. 19 , according to Chicago Police and CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski.

Nicholas Jo Mohn, of Homer, Michigan, was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:33 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy found he died of multiple injuries due to a train striking a pedestrian, and his death was ruled a suicide.
