Women are being targeted in a series of violent robberies in the Northwest Side Avondale and Logan Square neighborhoods, according to a community alert issued by Chicago Police.

A lone woman is approached by at least one male, who knocks her down from behind and steals her property, according to the alert. During one incident, the suspect asked to use a woman’s cell phone before robbing her.

The robberies happened:

-in the 3000 block of North Gresham about 1 p.m. on Nov. 1;

-in the 3300 block of West Belmont about 8 p.m. on Nov. 2;

-in the 3400 block of West Diversey about 9:45 a.m. on Nov. 13.

One of the suspects is described as a 20 to 25-year-old black man, about 6-foot-1 and 155 pounds, with long black dreadlocks and all black clothing.

Another suspect is described as a 20 to 25-year-old black man, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8 and about 160 pounds. He was wearing a red puffy vest with a long-sleeved gray shirt underneath.

The two suspects from the Diversey robbery are described as black males between 15 and 19 years old, each about 150 pounds. One was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and the other was wearing a black and red hooded sweatshirt.

Women are advised not to walk alone and to avoid talking or texting on their cell phones.
