A north central Illinois man was charged Wednesday with 24 counts of predatory sexual assault of a child for each of the two children he allegedly abused.

Gary R. Hulthen, 72, of 13100 block of Shabonna Road in Shabbona is accused of sexually touching two children under the age of 13, according to a statement from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators believe there could be additional victims.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of an allegation against Hulthen Tuesday, according to the sheriff’s office. He was interviewed and then charged.

Hulthen is being held at the DeKalb County Jail to await a bond hearing at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Shabbona is located about 37 miles west of Naperville.
